The funny part about the whole Incursion debacle is that it feels more like the Big Corps out in Nulsec are more up in arms about the ability for Hiseccers to make some isk, rather than the whole Risk/Reward dribble. Let's be honest here, with all the politics going on, both internally and externally, I find it truly hard to believe the idea that Nulsec, short of contested areas, is less safe than Hisec. Yeah, incursions need one big fix to bring the money made from them to a better level, but no one can sit here and convince me that within the truly large alliances that money is being made hand over fist while being the most risky areas.
I know of one guy that logs in and hits a couple of buttons and makes a couple billion just from moons. I knew another guy that would do Nulsec complexes in an AFK Domi, making ten times the amount of isk that only the best Lvl4s could hand out. Entire mining ops are held in relative safety in what should be considered the least safe area of the game. I'm not even going to get into botting. All of this is contained in the so-called lawless wildlands of space, while the powers that be cry that people running hisec Incursions are making too much isk for very little risk.
Once again, yes, Incursions need to be fixed in the idea that once the moms show up, that's all you get. But once something like that happens, then the whine will go onto the next thing that Hiseccers make "too much money" from. I've watched the cycle for about three years now. Nobody is ever happy with what they have, they want what the other guy has too. While certainly a natural emotion in humans, we are talking about a game here. The funny thing is that if so much money is being made in these activities, why aren't you joining in? Is it below you? Is it because that is not how you "play the game"?
I'd wager that all those pretty little officer and faction mods that are won in Nulsec are being bought by the very same Incursion runners to pimp out their ships so they can run more incursions more effectively. Prices have gone up on these mods because people have the money to buy them. So what happens when you remove that money? No one can buy that stuff, which in turn starves sellers of isk, forcing prices down. Like it or not, those "Carebears" fund many people with the isk to play the game the way they want. The economy is healthy, because there is isk to be spent, a reflection of the entire organism that is Eve.
People are going to play what they want, how they want. Nulseccers are going to do their thing, Hiseccers are going to do theirs. That's the way it should be. No playstyle is factually better than another, that's all opinion. Live and let live, if you can. Otherwise, you are going to be perpetually miserable as long as you play the game. |
